The Heart Behind LIMINAL WAKE--Now in Paperback and Hardback
Father's Day gift, beach read, and dare I say, "book club material."
It’s here. After months of edits and formatting woes, Liminal Wake is officially available in paperback and hardback.
This story has been brewing in the background of my commentary for years—a near-future sci-fi thriller about what happens when a society trades human dignity for technological salvation, eternal truths for the enemy’s lies. It’s about resistance, identity, and the terrifying power of belief.
At the center of it all: a father wrestling within a system that promises transcendence but delivers something far more unsettling. He’ll risk everything to save his daughter, even as the lines of good and evil are being redrawn around him.
If you’ve been following my work for a while, you’ll know I don’t shy away from uncomfortable questions. It is my perennially unpopular brand, in fact. Since you’re subscribers, and you get me, you’ll be happy to know Liminal Wake doesn’t either, but it’s not an essay. It’s not “Christian fiction” either, though my worldview is unmistakably in the DNA. The story takes the lead—tense, emotional, and a little weird.
And now, it’s in physical form. You can hold it in your hands. You can gift it. You can shelve it, annotate it, dog-ear it, take it to the beach, start a book club, tell Joe Rogan, make me famous.
Just kidding. Don’t dog-ear it.
Why Father’s Day weekend?
I chose to release before Father’s Day because men are underserved in fiction (check out Fictional Influence’s commentary and interviews on the subject if that interests you). I tried my best to write something equally enjoyable by men and women, with a male protagonist in a protector’s role. He isn’t perfect. He isn’t shredded. But he is a dad.
There’s science-y stuff in here, and there’s drama; there’s action and introspection (but not too much of the latter); there’s world-building and story momentum. There’s both men and women’s perspectives. Really, I wrote a book you can listen to in the car with your husband or wife, and neither of you will fall asleep. I think that’s more than you can say for most books.
If you know someone who likes their fiction thoughtful but gripping, neither sappy nor dry, Liminal Wake will make a great gift.
A massive thank you to everyone who’s encouraged me on this journey, especially the early readers. My husband (and the Literal Best Dad Ever) really stepped in to make this happen.
More soon on Oblivion’s Reach, the second and final book in the Loop Duology, launching next month. But for now, I hope you enjoy Liminal Wake.
